5 Maid Murders in Singapore






Tuti Aeliyah

She had strangled Shameera Basha Noor Basha, 16, with the latter’s school pinafore in the family’s Tampines flat on the morning of Nov 14, 2013. Shameera’s parents and brother were not home at the time. Tuti had gone into Shameera’s room and smothered her at about 8am. They struggled and she stabbed her victim, then looped the pinafore around her victim’s neck and pulled. Sentenced to 12 years' jail.


Dewi Sukowati

Dewi Sukowai, 23, is alleged to have caused the death of her 69-year-old employer at her Victoria Park Road bungalow in Bukit Timah between 7.30am and 8.46am on Wednesday. 
The 69-year-old was found in the swimming pool in her white and blue pyjamas. She had head injuries and her left wrist was in a cast. She is believed to have been alone at home with her maid on the property, which is as big as about 20 four-room HDB flats and valued around $40 million.

Nokuthula Nyathi
The maid reportedly carried out the cruel act of boiling the baby to death when she failed to get her salary on time. Nokuthula confronted her employer about her salary two days after the day she was supposed to receive her pay. Her employer, Karen Dube, had promised to pay her by the end of the same week but did not hold up her end of the bargain. However, Nokithula did not believe her words and committed the crime as an act of revenge by boiling the three-month-old baby in a container for an hour.

Guen Garlejo Aguilar
Guen Garlejo Aguilar, 29, was accused of murdering 26-year-old Jane Parangan La Puebla, a fellow Filipina domestic worker, in September and then dumping parts of her dismembered body at several locations around the city-state. La Puebla's head and limbs were found stashed inside a sports bag behind a subway station on Singapore's Orchard Road, home to luxury boutiques and large department stores. Hours later, the torso of a woman dressed only in underwear was found in a trolley bag at one of the country's popular nature parks. Sentenced to 10 years' jail.

Nurhayati
She was 16 years old at the time she pushed Linda Lee Yee Lin off the 16th floor parapet ledge of a block in Hougang Street 51. Linda suffered from Scoliosis, and was both physically and mentally disabled. he court also heard that Nurhayati was angry and irritated with Linda's father, Mr Lee Kai Yam, as he often reprimanded her about her work.She had even planned to kill him by mixing his coffee with insect poison, but did not follow through.On November 24, 2010, Nurhayati suddenly thought of killing Linda, to take revenge on Mr Lee.  After Mr Lee left for work, Nurhayati carried Linda out of the family's flat on the fourth floor and took the lift to the ground floor, but did not know how to kill her.She then got back into the lift and went up to the 16th floor, where she then pushed Linda off the parapet wall. Sentenced to 20 years' jail.
